Homeless Primary Care Team Nurse

Sue McCutcheon is an advanced nurse practitioner with the Homeless Primary Care Team in Birmingham. Her role is dedicated to the health of individuals with substance use issues and she has been in this post for the past 15 years, having worked within the field of substance use for 24 years.

Sue McCutcheon is an advanced nurse practitioner with the Homeless Primary Care Team in Birmingham. Her role is dedicated to the health of individuals with substance use issues and she has been in this post for the past 15 years, having worked within the field of substance use for 24 years.

Prior to this she worked as an A&E nurse in Birmingham city centre. Sue has led on the implementation of an award-winning ‘take home naloxone’ programme for homeless people in Birmingham over the past four years; she has also set up resuscitation training sessions for homeless individuals.

She is a member of the Birmingham Harm Reduction Group and the Naloxone Action Group for England. Sue is passionate about delivering substance use-related health care to homeless individuals. She is the nurse on the Birmingham Homeless Task Force – spending four hours a day working directly on the street, increasing access and delivering health care specifically to individuals who are rough sleeping.
